Ely Buendia and Jay Ortega are the founding members of the “super group” Apartel.
Their newly-formed group is considered to be the rebirth of sorts for the two rock stars. They like their music to be soul music, a far cry from what they have been producing. They said during their interview on CNN Philippines that everything just happened over beers on a night in November. They just talked and shared about their roots and since they share the same roots, they jumped on the chance to form a band that could be fueled by their music influences.
After exchanging a few demos, they decided to call for help from musicians who could help them achieve the music that they wanted thus, the birth of Apartel. The members of the band are: Coco Coo and Redge Concepcion on guitars, Jun Lazo on bass, Ryan Goan on keyboards, Pat Sarabia on drums, Deej Rodriguez on percussion, Wowie Ansano, Pards Tupas, and Joseph Cabañero on horns and the “double d” sisters Donna Senoron and Dian Sagun on backing vocals. Come December 2016, Ortega left the group to pursue a solo career.
Apartel is now promoting their single Pateros. Pateros aims to take listeners back to the glory days of funk. Aside from Pateros, their album “Full Flood” also features ”Better Off” and “Guijo St.” Their album is set to be released on September 2018 and is under Offshore Music.
