The most wonderful time of the year is just few days ahead of us. We will celebrate Christmas in less than a month.
With so many things to consider, we have so much of our list and our preparation is getting harder and tighter as days go by. We prepare gifts, offerings, parties, schedules and most especially, we prepare food to share.
We are having difficulties with budgeting. Most especially nowadays, we are being stricken with the inflation rates, the shooting prices of oil products and the effects of it are often seen in whatever we eat, all products, either food or beverage.
That’s why, on these days, it is very important to take some budgeting strategies and techniques to lessen the burdens of the season in our own wallets.
- We can prepare food that stretches our budget
Christmas, specifically our traditional Noche Buena, is far different from our Holy Week observance and celebrations of our Muslim Filipinos, that require some traditional foods.
Because it’s Christmas, we can prepare our own version of our food menu. Simpler sides and dishes can be employed. Guests and relatives might expect something common with the celebration, so make some chips, pasta, salads, available but make sure not to break the bank.
- Shop to places with special deals.
Groceries and stores in your local places often set sales and deals during this season because they think that people shall always buy in bulks and those in special discounts.
But these discounts are purely beneficial in your supreme budgeting because it may lessen your expenses with the same amount of supplies that you can bring. You will be amazed how all those little discounts add up to big savings on your shopping bill. Always bear in mind that there is no shame in availing of these offers.
Buy a newspaper and look for special deals. Get your rewards card that it can bring you some special discounts when you buy to shopping centers. Coupons and specials come together in this season, so shop and buy wisely.
- Buy direct to stores if you can
One of today’s trend are online shopping portals. They offer you different commodities, even food that can be delivered or ingredients that can be brought to your home. Of course, if you’re a techy guy, this is much convenient to your shopping. But if we come to think of it, with all the shipping fees and membership fees, it might not bring us to thriftier budgeting.
You can go directly to stores for your ingredients and food choices. It can help you to budget your stuff and can avoid some surprise payments. This is much economical because you can choose on first hand, you can inspect, you can demand something that you want.
- You can ask you guests and relatives to bring something to eat and drink
The more the merrier! The more people we are at home, the more relatives we celebrate with is the more food to share we must prepare!
You can always demand for a potluck! this is where guests and even your relatives can bring something to eat or to drink for your communal gathering and sharing. Consider asking your relatives and guests to bring desserts and drinks.
More contributions, more foods to share and more variations to choose from. It helps you also to lessen the time and effort exerted in cooking and preparing the whole table.
- Cook less dishes but larger quantities
Choose to make fewer dishes but larger in quantities for everyone who will eat will never miss any dish out of your menu.
Buying fewer ingredients will bring you to lesser expenses this Christmas.
Are you done with your Christmas shopping? How is it?
