Chloe’s Inbox – The grass can look greener on the other side

  Good day, DJ Chloe!

  This is my third time na hihingi ako ng advice sa inyo. At sana magrant ulit itong paghingi ko ng advice. DJ, I have this problem about my work. Normal lang naman po, ‘di ba, ang stress sa work. Stressed po ako sa boss ko kasi may mga workload po siyang binibigay which is beyond my job description at kung minsan sa ibang co-workers ko pa malalaman na ganito pinapagawa ni boss. Minsan within that day kailangan matapos. Wala po sanang problema, DJ, kung before ibigay sa’kin ‘yung trabaho, eh kakausapin ako ng maayos. Pero hindi po eh, minsan beyond working hours ko pa. Wala man lang per diems or kahit na OT man lang. By the way, contractual po ako, DJ, sa isang government agency. Walang benefits, no employee-employer relationship. Sa academe po ako ngayon, DJ, as part time lecturer. Ibig sabihin ‘yung gawain lang namin eh magturo. Wala po sa job description ko ang gawin ang gawain nga mga regular. Ganito po kasi ‘yung sistema dito sa workplace ko, DJ. Minsan imbes na ilaan ko ‘yung oras sa mag-ina ko, eh may mga gawain during weekends sa office na hindi naman dapat namin ginagawa. Tapos OT-hank you pa. Tapos ‘yung sahod po minsan one to two (1-2) months delayed. Almost three (3) years na po ako dito, and every time po na pakiramdam ko luging-lugi ako nade-depress po ako. Ni hindi ko po alam kung kailan ako mare-regular dahil po kailangan may backer or padrino. Haay, bread-winner nga po pala ako, DJ. Ano po bang p’wedeng gawin ko, gusto kong umalis pero pa’no pamilya ko? Another reason po eh, ‘yung boss ko expected niya na magse-settle na talaga ako sa academe. Pa’no ko ba sasabihin sa boss ko na I’m losing it na? Recently po, I was given the chance na makausap ‘yung dating boss ko sa unang pinagtrabahuhan ko at may offer po sa akin. Pinapabalik ako dun. At least, doon on time po ‘yung sahod. Hindi kami nagsho-short sa gastusin. DJ, I badly need an advice about this. Pasensya na po kung napahaba. Stressed lang po ako at walang mapagsabihan. Salamat!

  You’re not the only person going through these things you’ve said. But we all hold on, because we have a family that needs us to hold on, right? If you feel that you will have a better one with the offer of your former boss, then go ahead, but make sure that the offer is clear and you know what you’re getting yourself into. Baka mamaya “the grass only looks greener on the other side” lang ‘yan. Mahirap talaga magwork sa government, ang alam ko, p’wede n’yo po akong i-correct kung mali ako. ‘Pag contractual ka at wala na ‘yung pulitiko na nagpasok sa’yo, wala ka na din trabaho. If you feel na luging-lugi ka diyan, then find something better. Your family deserves more. Hanap hanggang makuha ang hinahanap. P’wedeng maghanap habang nandiyan ka pa. Just make sure before you jump off, may lalagpakan kang sigurado na.
