Coffee Break Plugged In – Episode 60: Being one of the boys in the workplace feat. Gracenote

June 29, 2021

  • Ever heard of the word ‘pick me girl’? According to the internet, a pick me girl is a toxic feminity where a female craves or seeks attention from male. This includes shaming other women for their choices, attempts to make oneself more appealing for the sake of men, and tear down other women for the sake of men’s attention. In the case of Gracenote, where does Eunice stand on this topic being the only female in the group?

In this episode of Coffee Break Plugged In, DJ Shai, Eunice, Jazz, and EJ talked about being one of the boys in their band and also on workplace! Eunice, Gracenote’s frontwoman admitted that it was not that hard to be the only female in their band because she have male siblings. EJ, drummer, added that Eunice is not the type of person who pretends or intends to get attention from boys by being with them. He said that he never felt intimated of having a woman as their lead because before Gracenote, he was also in a band lead by a female. He also shared that he is more comfortable being with girls rather than boys. While, Jazz, the band’s bassist, shared that there was a time that their parents did not allow Eunice to be in a band unless Jazz will be a part of it.

Aside from their conversation, Gracenote performed their latest song “City of Vulnerable” from their “Small World” album. The song is about being a girl who put her guard down for a guy but leaves her out of nowhere. “Hindi niya alam kung saan siya pupunta, hindi niya alam kung saan siya lulugar,” Eunice said. “’Yung akala niya may something pero sabay biglang naiwan sa ere,” she added.
