Gayle reveals the story behind TikTok-famous song ‘abcdefu’

• 17-year old rising pop singer-songwriter GAYLE had a virtual chit chat with our very own, DJ Shai!

  On this exclusive interview, GAYLE and DJ Shai talked about the story behind her smash hit “abcdefu.”

  The young singer told DJ Shai that her song was actually written for her ex-boyfriend. “That song came from a place of trying so hard to be the nice, respectful ex-girlfriend, to the point where it was negatively affecting me,” GAYLE says. “It’s about asking, ‘Why am I being so nice to this person who completely took advantage of me? and allowing myself to express my anger about that,” she added.

  The two also talked about the hit’s music video wherein many were asking if that was really her ex’s house. “I did not break into his home but what I will say I did make his room pretty close,” GAYLE answered.

  As of this writing, “abcdefu” has amassed 112,539,919 streams on Spotify and 26,653,136 views on YouTube. The song has already topped multiple charts including Billboard’s Alternative Charts.
