It’s summer and you can already feel the intense heat in Manila. What’s a great way to start your summer? Of course, visiting the Summer Capital of the Philippines must not be taken away from the list.
Baguio City is known for their fresh fruits, veggies and their fantastic delicacies. Well of course, you cannot forget these 4 must-buy in Baguio.
Fresh Strawberries
You can’t leave Baguio City without buying fresh strawberries! The strawberry season is every January until March of the year. During this season, strawberries are sold cheaper than the usual. The vendors even allow you to taste a strawberry first before buying, which you can’t do on a grocery store! Baguio’s fresh strawberries are perfect for your fruit-lover relatives in Manila and of course, smoothies!!!
Sundot Kulangot
Sundot Kulangot or when translated in English is “picking boogers”. Hahaha! I know it sounds gross but I’m telling you it’s not!
Inside the tiny bao (coconut shell) is kalamay. It is usually made up of coconut milk and molasses. You must use a little bamboo stick to pick the kalamay inside. You can also use your finger to eat it.
Sundot Kulangot is very fun to eat. It’s not pleasing to the ears but once you pop, you can’t stop!
Good Shepherd’s products
Their ube jam is my favorite among all their products! They have the most flavorful ube jam ever. Next to their ube jam is of course their strawberry jam. Yes, there are tons of strawberry jams in Baguio but Good Shepherd’s is simply the best.
Good Shepherd also sells lengua de gato, peanut brittle, choco flakes, nuts, bread and so much more. The perfect pasalubong stop shop for your loved ones in Manila!
Fresh Vegetables
Benguet and Cordillera is the perfect place where you can plant vegetables and flowers because of its cold climate. You can buy organic broccoli and other greens and healthy vegetables for drop down prices!
