David Pomeranz was born on February 9, 1951 and raised in Long Island, New York.
At a young age, David expressed his interest in music by performing in choirs, playing the piano, guitar and drums. His first singing experience in public was performing duets with his father in Synagogue. And by the age of 14, he began to write and record his first songs. He also emerged himself in rock genre which he became the lead singer of a country rock band Pure Prairie League for a short time.
Pomeranz first got his professional break at the age of 19 when Decca Records signed him to a multi-album solo contract.
During the early 1970’s, David started to enhance his impressive music skills by performing as opening acts for artists like Randy Newman, Steve Martin, Laura Nyro and many more. In 1971, he released two albums consecutively ‘New Blues’ and ‘Time To Fly’.
In 1975, singer Barry Manilow recorded the song ‘Tryin’ To Get The Feeling Again’ which Pomeranz himself originally wrote for The Carpenters. Barry’s version of the song became David’s first number one hit.
Other artists who recorded and performed David’s songs include Clay Aiken, Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi, Kenny Loggins, Freddie Mercury of Queen, Richard Marx, The Carpenters, Dennis DeYoung of Styx, Kenny Rogers, Lea Salonga and many other topnotch artists. In 2002, Hip Hop artist Missy Elliot sampled Pomeranz’s music on her chart-topping hit ‘One Minute Man’.
In the late 80’s, David became friends with Russian rock star, Alexander ‘Sasha’ Malinin. The two musicians developed a close friendship which lead to their powerful collaboration entitled ‘Faraway Lands’.
During the 90’s, David continued to tour, composed songs for television shows, movies and theater.


To date, David is one of the most successful songwriter and musician in the music industry. His songs and recordings have sold over 40 million copies worldwide which earned him a total of 18 gold and 22 platinum records.
Pomeranz’s compilation album ‘Born For You’ which was released in Southeast Asia in 1999 became successful in the Philippines where it also became the best-selling album of all time which sold over 500,000 copies in the country alone.
