Stress is the feeling that everything seems to have become too much. We are overloaded with thoughts and tasks think whether we really can cope with the pressure placed upon us. How we handle stressful events is the biggest factor that will affect a person’s physical and mental health. If stress is not properly managed, it can take over your body and emotions leading to a more serious illness and even mental disorders.
Some people handle stress by eating foods. They turn into food for comfort as well as a ‘reward’. But did you know there are foods that can alleviate stress which can be easily found everywhere without exhausting much money from your wallet.
Dark Chocolate possesses a high content of flavonols that is responsible for the widening of the blood vessels and decreases the blood pressure. Eating a bar of chocolate will also help you feel calm.
Green tea is packed with antioxidants that improves the performance of the brain. It also contains an amino acid, L-Thiamine which increases the activity our brain and mental performance.
Oatmeal is rich in complex carbs, jam-packed with fiber, minerals and vitamins. It can also help you boost your serotonin level. A stable brain serotonin level is associated with a positive state of mood while a lower level of serotonin can result to negative vibes.
The protein present in Milk, Lactium which helps you manage stress as well as anxiety by lowering the blood pressure. It also prevents the release of the stress hormone cortisol.
Nuts control the level of cortisol in order to maintain a more peaceful and good vibes. Walnuts, almonds, pecans and hazelnuts are the best stress relievers. The vitamins present in it can also help strengthen the immune system, which can be hindered by stress.
Too much stress can lead to negative effects to your life. Don’t let stress eat you, think of it as a flavor of our everyday life. Imagine a life without stress, life would be dull and boring. Stress can only be inflicting when it is not well managed. If stress drives you nuts, just eat NUTS to drive it away.
