  • ALCHEMY-BISTRO-BAR

When we just thought that science, particularly chemistry, has nothing to do with chilling after work… well, we were all wrong on that because there’s a spot in the middle of Makati where food and chill is transmuted to perfection.

Since 2014, Alchemy Bistro Bar has been open to locals and expats who are into European cuisine. And if you love Romanesque and old library feels, this hot spot is a good place for you and your unwinding agenda.

Alchemy was put up by real-life couple Gordon Currie and Chef Tina Moscardon. Ever since it was a hub for trendsetters who just want to chill and listen to good music without feeling toxic. Along with the feel-good atmosphere of Alchemy are their signature drinks–The Potions or Alchemic Elixirs.

These drinks are their very own and as they say, “home-made concoctions.”

Alchemic Elixirs is made up of The Fiery Passion, White Wizard, Vivaldi’s Dream, Yin and Yang and Ginger Blast which cocktail lovers should watch out for from Alchemy.

    THE-FIERY-PASSION

The Fiery Passion is a mixture of siling labuyo and gin. Once you take a sip of it a feel of explosion forms in your throat. But that’s what makes it cool and different from your usual cocktails. This drink will definitely last for a night because it will take you some time to take a sip again.

    WHITE-WIZARD

White Wizard can be for titos and titas chillin’. It’s a mixture of vodka, pandan leaves, milk, and other secret ingredients. Not too hard, not too soft.

    VIVALDI'S-DREAM

Vivaldi’s Dream is one of their best-sellers. Your usual drink with a punch. As they say, you wouldn’t want to wake up when you slip to this slumber concoction.

    GINGER-BLAST-AND-YIN-AND-YANG
Ginger Blast and Yin and Yang

Yin and Yang is one of their newest mixture which can be added to your list of favorite cocktails. The main ingredients of this drink are tequila and chili.

Ginger Blast is also one of their newest mix that is a must-try. We give four stars for this cocktail because it’s not your usual drink. It’s so perfect for a night of chilling. Ginger Blast is made up of vodka, lemon grass, and cinnamon. It’s a bit tita/tito drink but if you’re after bonding and chats this is a perfect companion.

Of course, good mixes should come with good food. Alchemy’s menu is influenced by countries in Europe.

To get our appetite ready, baked oysters and artichoke spinach dip were served.

    ARTICHOKE-SPINACH-DIP

We give a thumbs up with five stars to Alchemy’s artichoke spinach dip which comes with their very own pita. The team really enjoyed the dip that we were eating it as if it’s nutella. You must not leave Alchemy without trying this.

The best main plates that you have to try are slow-braised lamb shank, boeuf bourguignon, pan seared salmon, roasted organic chicken, and the pide!

We highly recommend that you try their pide! For meat and pizza lovers, this one is surely a must-try.

What we love about this Turkish pizza is it was baked in a brick oven. You’d really know that it through its crust. What makes it heavy is its pure lamb toppings and mozarella cheese base. And what makes it winner it is stuffed with lamb; really heavy and perfect for a wine kind of night.

Looking through the best-sellers of Alchemy is already heavy in the tummy. But you just really have to save some space for sweets because their warm molten chocolate cake is to die for!

    Warm Molten Chocolate Cake

This chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream on the side is near mud pie. However what makes Alchemy’s version different is the cake’s side which is kind of toasted and its inside is really warm that it melts with the vanilla ice cream inside your mouth. A spoonful of heaven it is. Thumbs up for this dessert!

    CREPE-SUZETTE
    Crepe Suzette

If you love crepes you can try their crepe suzette with caramel. It’s a crepe with orange butter sauce flambéed in Grand Marnier topped with vanilla ice cream. A different kind of crepe.

Alchemy Bistro Bar is perfect for those who wants to catch up with friends along with good drinks, good food, and good music. It’s not your feasting-food-hub type. It can be your option if you feel like “chit chats and coffee” is overrated.
