  • Manila, the vibrant capital city of the Philippines, has always been known for its rich culinary heritage and preference when it comes in innovating twists on traditional flavors. Among the countless Filipino desserts that have captured the hearts of the city’s residents, one treat has emerged as a bonafide sensation, the Taho de Leche. This delectable treat is a combination of silky-smooth taho and creamy leche flan has taken the local food scene by storm, and this food court taho, often referred to as “fancier” taho, has garnered a massive following. Yes! Thanks to the captivating power of social media. Videos showcasing its preparation, unique presentations, and luxurious toppings have captured the attention of food enthusiasts and garnered millions of views and likes. But with the increased popularity and higher price tag, the question arises. Is this food court taho worth double its street price? Let’s dive in and find out.

Taho, a beloved Filipino delicacy, has long been a staple street food in Manila. Traditionally made with soft tofu, sweet arnibal (syrup), and tapioca pearls, taho has been a morning favorite for Filipinos of all ages. However, the introduction of leche flan into this classic treat marks a delightful departure from tradition.

Leche flan, often hailed as the Filipino version of crème caramel or caramel custard, is a rich and velvety custard dessert made with eggs, condensed milk, and caramel syrup. Of course, most Filipinos would love to taste these two amazing desserts in one cup, right?

    PRICE

One of the key considerations when assessing the worth of food court taho is the significant price difference compared to the traditional street version. Taho is typically sold by street vendors at an affordable price. At around 20 php, you’ll get to taste the staple street food taho plus it is more accessible to consumers. However, the food court iteration often comes with a heftier price tag, sometimes even double the street price.

Reasons for the price increase in food court taho can be attributed to various factors. Food courts generally have higher operating costs, including rent, utilities, and staff wages, which necessitate higher prices for the products sold. Additionally, the enhanced presentation, use of premium ingredients, and the allure of a curated food court experience contribute to the higher cost.

    TASTE

To determine whether food court taho justifies its elevated price, one must consider its taste and overall experience. Those who have sampled food court taho often attest to its undeniable deliciousness and the added layer of indulgence it provides. The silky-smooth texture of the tofu, combined with the sweet syrup and chewy tapioca pearls, remains consistent with the traditional street version.

    APPEARANCE

With its elevated price, theres no doubt that the presentation and added toppings would enhance the visual appeal and provide a touch of luxury to the dessert. The experience of enjoying a beautifully crafted taho in an aesthetically pleasing environment should be worth the premium price.

It is important to note that taste preferences can vary, and some individuals may find the extra cost unjustifiable when compared to the affordable and equally delicious street version. But, for those seeking a unique and elevated dessert experience, complete with stunning presentations and a touch of luxury, food court taho may be worth the investment.

The decision ultimately depends on one’s personal budget, willingness to splurge on a culinary experience, and the value placed on aesthetic presentation. Plus, there’s nothing wrong if you get to try something new yet tasty, right?
