Mom And Her Famous Rainy Day Recipes

  If you’re a yuppie now, you will agree that the rainy season was one of the best moments of the year when you were still in school! One, because classes are suspended. Two, because you’ll get to eat home-cooked meals by mom!

  Awwww…how we miss class suspensions! Sepanx, though!

  Here are some of the most famous rainy days food made by mom! And no matter how they taste, other versions of it won’t beat mom’s…

  1. GINISANG MONGGO

  For some reasons, mom would cook ginisang monggo even if it’s not Friday. And it feels so homey when she cooks this together with fried fish. Lunch becomes so laid back while the rain is pouring hard outside.

  

  2. ADOBO

  And even if you can really eat this everyday of your life, mom still cooks it and you can’t help but say, “iba talaga adobo mo, ma.” Hahahaha! Well, if you may ask, supposedly it’s sinigang. But since it’s raining outside and no one can buy the sinigang ingredients it became adobo. That’s the history why you eat adobo on a rainy season. :P

  

  3. CHAMPORADO

  The moment you got up and thought you were late for school but you see mom just put the champorado on the table. You grab a chair and start filling your chocolate rice with milk while listening to the news. And if you hear that the classes are suspended in your area, it’s time for you to chillax eating and after, lie down again to sleep! Awww, who does not love those days?

  

  4. LUGAW

  The classic rainy day food! When Netflix was not yet invented, it was “lugaw and chill” on rainy days! Hahaha! With the variety of sawsawan and toppings you can partner with it, for sure you won’t recognize that you’ve been eating it the whole day! Shout out to those who had this pattern on class suspensions: eat lugaw – sleep – eat lugaw – sleep – eat lugaw! Hahahahaha!

  

  5. SINIGANG

  All in one pot! Everyone’s favorite! And it’s fun to eat this together with the family on dinner time! Family + good food is love.

  

  6. SOPAS

  The favorite merienda! And because everyone’s at home, mom would make it more special and put everything that there is inside the fridge! Mom’s always the best. You can even ask for extra hotdogs if you want.

  

  7. INSTANT NOODLES

  Is it just us or everyone had those moments when mom was too lazy to cook so you’ll just have instant noodles for the day? But hey, she still makes sure that it’s special by cooking your favorite flavor with eggs! :)

  

  8. GINATAANG HALO-HALO

  That feeling when you thought that this is only available when there is an occasion! But mom can do it on a daily basis, though! And you just really love her for that! :)

  

  Well, whatever food mom cooks it doesn’t really matter. What really matters are the moments you are at home with the warmth of family over good food. <3
