    Street foods are everywhere!

We all know that street foods are really popular here in the Philippines because they do not only satisfy our cravings but also very affordable. Street foods can be found anytime, anywhere. The question here is, are we really aware of what danger it could inflict us?

What are street foods, by the way? It is somehow a ready-to-eat food sold by vendors on the streets. These are isaw, calamares, kwek-kwek, chicken skin, betamax, bopis, kikiam, fish balls, squid balls, balot, penoy, etc. It doesn’t only taste good but it is super cheap. With just only 20 pesos, you can fill your stomach with an array of awesome grills.

Eating street foods may possibly lead to the following two major illnesses which is Gastrointestinal Infection and Hepatitis A.

Food-borne bacteria that are detected in street vended foods are the following:

    1. Bacillus Cereus that can cause diarrhea and vomiting,

    2. Clostridium Perfringens that causes abdominal cramps and diarrhea,

    3. Staphylococcus Aureus that causes loss of appetite, severe abdominal cramps, mild fever, diarrhea and vomiting, and lastly

    4. Salmonella species that causes typhoid fever, food poisoning and inflammation of gastrointestinal tract.

We should be responsible enough to always check the food that we intake, and as much as possible, always ask yourself first “Is this safe?”.

This doesn’t intend to dismay the readers from eating street foods. Team Easy Rock is only spreading awareness to the public about the possible drawbacks of it.

But really, let’s be honest here. Who doesn’t love street foods, right? ;)
