8 Few Reasons Why You Can’t Save

August 17, 2018

  • Sometimes you wonder what’s wrong why you can’t really save up. Was it because you have too much workload but not enough salary? Or was it because of the lifestyle that you have? But truth be told, both are factors why you can’t really add some bills in that piggy bank of yours. However, at some point our priorities or our mindsets affect the way we handle our income. Here are eight few reasons why you can’t really save up!

    1. YOU SUPPORT FAMILY – in Filipino culture, we value helping out the family. This is a very good reason why you can’t save up. Family is our greatest investment. May it be supporting your siblings’ education or your parents’ retirement, or just the bills at home, your money is not going to waste. Remember, those who have helped their families are sowing good seeds for their futures. The universe always has a way of giving it back to them. Especially those who are giving with their whole hearts. But also remember, this should not be a reason for you not to save.

    2. YOUR COFFEE IS TOO EXPENSIVE – there’s something about the coffee that you drink that makes you spend more. Yep, having a preferred coffee is costly. And sometimes yuppies are not after its taste. Sometimes it becomes a distinction of social class.

    3. TRAVEL IS ON YOUR MIND – do you have that thought that you want to get lost on different places? Looking at wonderful scenery, eating good food, and meeting new people are really nice but they are costly. Even if there are ways to spend less when you travel, you’re still spending. There’s nothing wrong with travelling but if it keeps you from saving up, you have to think twice. Remember, the places that you want to visit won’t leave. But the future that awaits you depend on how you handle your finances.

    4. “I’M GONNA EARN IT AGAIN” MENTALITY – we have this thought that we can make up next time or just save next time. After all, we’re going to earn it. We always think that as long as we have a job or a source of income, we can save anytime. But actually, the best time to save is now. Because it’s true that we do not know what the future holds.

    5.  GOOD INVESTMENT – making your income streams larger even if it’s long-term is a wise decision. Remember, as people age their needs also grow and their lifestyles change. And that’s something that yuppies should prepare for. It’s wise to prepare for retirement or even unexpected life-events. Or even after-graduation studies to help you progress in your career. That is an example of a good investment because your value increases. There are a lot of ways that you can invest for the future. May they be for your dream house, business, or just money to help you get through when your old is always a good investment. It’s okay to be broke while your young but make sure that you are putting your money to your future security.

    6. CREDIT – credit starts when we always think that we have a source for the things that we need. If you always have the thought “enjoy now, pay later” most likely, your payable will really pile up. Always think twice before grabbing this kind of expense.

    7. CAN’T RESIST TO DINE OUT – we can’t deny it’s so hard to say “no” to dinning out especially with friends. For yuppies, sometimes work and life are hard to balance that’s why you say yes for a breather. You always think that you owe yourself some break. And unknowingly, we’re doing it frequently already. If our stress occurs often, most likely our dine outs become often too. That’s why they say that some yuppies are not really losing weight at work because most of the time they eat their emotions out.

    8. ONE DAY MILLIONAIRE – when you were a kid you thought that you can’t spend all the money that this world can give you. But when you had your own job and you’re earning your keep, you have proven that you can spend a lot. And not only that, you can spend it in a day. Sometimes, when you get your money, you think right away of things that you have to purchase instead of thinking how much you can keep to save.
