Helpful Words In The Office

August 9, 2018

  • Workplaces can be toxic way beyond we can imagine it. Not only because of the tasks in our we are required to produce but most of the time because of the people around us too. However, if people are conscious with the way they communicate or respond to their colleagues, they can be channels of help and encouragement to the team where they belong.

    “THANK YOU”

Rule of thumb: whatever it is always end your note, email, or discussion with the word “thank you”. It’s very important that we give a space for gratefulness and thankfulness in our workplace. Once this becomes a habit, it becomes our character.

    “PLEASE”

There will always be moments in our work-life when we need help or ask favors from our colleagues. There will even be times when it’s kind of hard to let them do the but with a little pretty use of the word “please” you can make them do the job. However, making them say yes to the task whole-heartedly is a different thing. That should be the goal.

    “NEED HELP?”

Extending a hand won’t harm you. If you have the means and if you have the time, you can always go for an extra mile for your colleagues. Help them and make them feel that they are not alone in whatever work they’re doing. This means a lot to them because someone is willing to go extra just to help them get the job done.

    “KUMUSTA?”

Professional world is a jungle. It’ll sometimes hit you hard straight to your heart. Sometimes a simple “kumusta?” will make someone feel so important. In this world, where everyone is moving faster and on a rush, we don’t have all the time in the world to feel fragile. So, if you have spare time use that to ask how your colleagues are and make them feel that they matter to you as your teammate.

“KAYA MO YAN / KAYA NATIN YAN”

Work is stressful, let’s not deny it. But everything becomes easy if you know that you have a team who believes that you can do it and assures you that they got your back. Knowing that you have a team who’ll do it with you makes a lot of difference. It gives one motivation do push more and excel in whatever they do.

    “IT’S OKAY”

“It’s okay” is usually said when a mistake is committed. This means that whatever happened can be forgiven and they can make up next time. This kind of response to mistakes mean that there’s always a chance to do better. It gives hope to your colleagues that they can regain themselves again. But remember, just because things are forgiven they can already abuse it.

    “I’M HAPPY FOR YOU”

May they be small or big wins, it’s very important that we express our happiness for our co-employees. It’s very encouraging when you know that the people around you are happy with what you are achieving. It makes them desire to do more and be better with their crafts. And hey, doesn’t it feel good when you know that you are genuinely happy for others?

    “I APPRECIATE YOU”

There’s always a space for appreciation and your workplace must have this. Remember, a team is not composed of one person only. It’s made up of different people doing their tasks properly to make and  give good results. There are no small or big tasks. Every employee plays an important role in the company. May we always take time to appreciate our colleagues. You won’t do what you do without them.

    “I APOLOGIZE”

Saying “sorry” is different from saying “I apologize.” The latter is more professional; an admission of a wrongdoing or let’s say, admission of honest mistake. Never hold back from apologizing because it measures you as a team player. When you commit a mistake, be humble enough to admit them. Remember, leaders are not afraid to admit they’re wrong. And leaders do not only hold a position, they hold a character.

    “GOOD JOB”

You’ll never know what a “good job” can do to a person. Especially if someone has given so much effort, time, and passions to get work the done. However, “good job” can be said even if expectations were not met. You can always say “good job” for the effort, the time given, and all. Leaders, take note of this. Your “good job” is precious to your team.
