5 Truths That Mama Will Never Tell You

  Moms lie. Yes, they do. Perhaps, the time they lied the most was when you were young.

  Remember when she said that you have to sleep at noon because someone’s roaming around to get kids who are awake and put them inside a sack? The one she called, “manunupot.” And all along, you thought that someone exists for that very reason. But when you grow up, you’ll suddenly realize that she only said that so you’ll sleep and she can also sleep. Or maybe do house hold chores without you bugging her around.

  So who says that moms never lie? Hahahaha! But besides these stories she made up to threaten you, there are tons of lies that she’ll keep on telling you. Until now that you’re grown up, she’s lying to you.

  1. She’ll never tell you how much she wants that fried chicken skin.

  Who doesn’t love fried chicken skin? Everyone loves it.

  You know what, she eats all the fried chicken skin that she can. But that was when you’re not yet around. She eats everything that she wants until you came. She has to let go of the best part because you’re now there. She won’t buy orange juice anymore because you love strawberry. She’ll never get that last piece of chocolate because she knows that it’s already yours.

  Mama will never tell you that she wants it because she’ll think about you first. You’re the one who matters now.

  2. Mama will never tell you that she’s not okay.

  She will never tell you that she’s hurting; or that she’s tired; or at the edge of giving up. She’ll always deny that she needs to rest. What she knows is that you need her. She has to remain strong because anytime you’ll need her. She has this thought that she has to be strong for you always.

  3. Mama will never tell you that you’ve hurt her.

  You failed your exam. You didn’t choose the course she wanted for you. You fell in love with the wrong person. You made bad choices in your career. You didn’t answer her message back. You ignored the post she tagged you on Facebook. All these things, from the simplest to the most complex, she’ll never let you know that you disappointed her. She’ll never make you feel that she got sad. But instead, on moments like these, she’ll tell you that it’s okay. She would always choose to ignore and look past on your mistakes.

  And you’ll realize that maybe there were a lot of times that you hurt her but she love you so much that you never heard anything from her.

  4. She’ll never tell you that love is a good idea.

  If she can protect you from all the pain that love can bring, she will. If she can just keep you inside your house forever and refrain your heart from falling in love, she will. Because she knows that love would require much of who you are. Deep in her heart, she wants to give all the love that you need so that you don’t have to long for other people’s love. But she also knows that you need to know what’s the real meaning of love so that in time you’ll understand how much she loves you.

  5. Mama will never tell you that she doesn’t want you to grow up.

  Do you remember the days when she won’t let you get out with your friends? You always thought that she was selfish. No. It’s not that she doesn’t want you to enjoy. She just know that the day will come when you won’t even ask for her permission before going out. She knows that one day, you won’t consider her anymore. She knows that well. She knows that there will be a day when she’s not the only one who owns you.

  Mama will never tell you that she wants you close to her forever. But she’s selfless enough to let you go and experience life and love that the universe has to offer. And she loves you that much, she doesn’t want you to miss it.

  Your mama is such a good liar. You owe her a lot.
