Journey vocalist Arnel Pineda is both honored and thrilled to be a subject of a possible big-screen biopic by the “Crazy Rich Asians” director Jon M. Chu according to ABS-CBN News.
He teased that new details will be out soon and for now, the breakout director and the Hollywood film outfit were eyeing to trace his becoming as the frontman of Journey.
“Personally, I want this to happen. Maganda ‘to para sa atin, eh. Maganda sa mga dreamer, sa mga nangarap katulad ko who want to make it big, or at least iyon bang ma-recognize man lang ‘yung talent nila. I hope kung mangyari man ‘tong movie na ‘to, mag-open ‘to ng mas malaki pang door para sa mga Filipino at Asians,” he said.
He was discovered by Journey co-founder Neal Schon on YouTube. Pineda said he would want the biopic to cover his family’s struggles, his “hand-to-mouth existence” as a singer, his trials and struggles and how he was able to surpass them all, and how he was able to focus on his dreams.
When asked who he wants to play the role of himself, he wants no other than Coco Martin to play as himself in the biopic. “Si Coco Martin. Kaya lang ‘yong pagiging chinito niya, iba ‘yong eyes namin.”
