Apl.de.ap, or Allan Pineda Lindo in real life, of the hip hop group Black Eyed Peas, through the Apldeap Foundation, has donated another retinal camera equipment to the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in San Fernando City, Pampanga.
On his Instagram account, he shared series of photos showing the turnover of the retinal cameras to the management of the hospital and several initiatives his foundation done over the years.
“The Apldeap Foundation delivered our first retinal camera outside of Manila to Davos [Davao City]. And today we delivered our second one to the Jose B Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital Pampanga,” he captioned.
According to Apl.de.ap, the equipment can help to detect retinopathy of prematurity, a condition that leaves infants blind during birth. “As part of the Apl of My Eye campaign, it had been a goal of mine to bring forth modern day technology to help prevent people from suffering the same visual impairments that I have,” he added.
Apl.de.ap was born clinically blind in a community called Sapang Bato in Pampanga province. He got his eye treatment through the Pearl S. Buck Foundation in the United States.
Now, he is returning the favor through donations done by his own foundation, the Apldeap Foundation.
