Starting next week, UV express vehicles in transit in Metro Manila will not be allowed to load and unload passengers in between terminals.
Traffic authorities started implementing an order by Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to operate these vans strictly point-to-point (P2P). Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 2019-25 amends MC 2009-19, abolishes the 2-kilometer radius policy.
This new policy means passengers can only board and disembark at designated UV express terminals, not to any place in between. This new memorandum was signed on May 16 and they have not set the date to start enforcing the new policy.
This is just one of the transport regulators’ move to regulate public utility vehicles and to make them utilize their designated terminals.
Regulating the vehicles also mean harder daily commute to commuters. Some commuters express their concern with the new memorandum. According to them, they don’t even know where the other terminals are located. They are already expecting more crowded terminals and these said terminals are not even large enough to accommodate large number of passengers daily.
According to MMDA traffic chief Bong Nebrija that their agency only learned about the memorandum last Friday during a meeting the LTFB and Department of Transportation.
With another memorandum comes with another adjustment. Commuters are expected to leave their homes earlier than usual since the coming week will be the first week of the implementation of the said memorandum.
Let us know if what you guys think of the new memorandum and don’t forget to share it with your friends as well!
