Ed Sheeran has surpassed the all-time highest-grossing record of U2 at Messegelände in Hannover, Germany, by his 246th show of his two and a half year of “Divide Tour.”
Pollstar, an only trade publication in the US, confirms that Divide tour’s total gross will now reach $736.7 million, breaking the $735.4 million of U2 in July 2011.
Meanwhile, “I feel very lucky to have experienced all of the wonderful countries and crowds over the past 2 ½ years. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made it possible” said Ed Sheeran.
“What Ed has accomplished is truly incredible. I thought we might have a shot at having the highest attendance record but not the highest grossing tour,” said Stuart Camp, Sheeran’s longtime manager.
