American singer-songwriter Lana del Ray has aired out her frustration over how her songs were perceived by the public.
The controversial statement of the singer received backlash because her open letter addressing the accusations tagged her fellow female artists such as Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Kehlani, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Kehlani and Doja Cat.
Del Rey questioned why other artists can produce songs covering the ideas of cheating, sex, not wearing clothes while her songs are now being accused of “glamorizing abuse” within it.
“I am fed up with female writers and [alternative] singers saying that I glamorize abuse when in reality I’m just a glamorous person singing about the realities of what we are all now seeing are very prevalent emotionally abusive relationships all over the world,” she added.
