The Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu opera house in Spain has reopened and interestingly that its first concert after lockdown was filled with audiences who did not have to worry about physical distancing, June 23, Monday.

Instead of live audience, the UceLi Quartet performed Giacomo Puccini’s I “Crisantemi” in front of 2,292 plants occupying all the seats in the theater. This is an event which was led by a Spanish artist named Eugenio Ampudia who wants to incorporate nature in the performance during a pandemic.

“I heard many more birds singing. And the plants in my garden and outside growing faster. And, without a doubt, I thought that maybe I could now relate in a much intimate way with people and nature,” Ampudia said.

All the plants will be given as a gift to all health workers as appreciation to their works and sacrifices during the pandemic.
