Paul McCartney reveals suing The Beatles to save music

  Paul McCartney has confessed in a wide-ranging interview on British GQ the way he sued his bandmates having the misconception it’s the only to save its music, August 4, Tuesday.

  “I was thought to be the guy who broke The Beatles up and the b—— who sued his mates. And, believe me, I bought into that. It was so prevalent that for years I almost blamed myself,” the 78-year-old McCartney said.

  The Beatles was formed by McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison in 1960. It broke up ten years later because of myriad disputes, having different opinions with the band manager, Allen Klein.

  McCartney sued the band in 1970 at the London High Court of Justice. He wanted that the band’s contractual partnership to be dissolved because other members of the group appointed Klein to preside over their financial affairs. Hew was, then, outvoted.

  “If I hadn’t done that, it would have all belonged to Allen Klein. The only way I was given to get us out of that was to do what I did… I also knew that, if I managed to save it, I would be saving it for them too. Because they were about to give it away. They loved this guy Klein. And I was saying, ‘He’s a f—— idiot.'” McCartney added.
