‘Despacito’ hails as most viewed YouTube video in history

• ‘Despacito’ which was performed by Puerto Ricans Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee has recorded seven billion views in YouTube, almost equal to the global population, October 14, Thursday.

  The official music video was released on January 12, 2017. It has become the most viewed video in the history of the American music platform. It surpassed Pinkfong’s “Baby Shark Dance” with 6.8 billion views.

  Significantly, ‘Despacito’ gained momentum on YouTube, having three billion views in eight month after release. It was also named as the most played song of all time on streaming services in July 2017.

  As of the writing, the music video has 7,006,616,900 views and Luis Fonsi has 28.3 million subscribers on the platform.
