‘Jake and Charice’ docu wins award at a French trade event

A documentary about singer Jake Zyrus titled as ‘Jake and Charice’ has won an award at a French trade show about diversity on films, October 14, Wedensday.
‘Jake and Charice,’ which is primarily about the struggles of the singer, most especially his transition into a transgender man, won in the Non Scripted category within the LGBTQ+ section of the MIPCOM Diversify TV Excellence Awards.
The MIPCOM is an annual international trade event that tackles primarily television content. Disability, ethnicity and race are among the diversity issues highlighted in the awards program.
This is the latest international recognition given to Zyrus’ documentary. It was also awarded with Gold Camera award in the recent US International Film and Video Festival.
