The pandemic is not yet over. That’s the naked truth.

Of course, with eased restrictions, we can now do some breaktimes and we can do it within the proximity of our reach.

One of the things we can do is staycation. It is such a novel concept to catch a break most especially if you have enough resources.

Sometimes, if you want to go out of your usual routine, the only thing to do is to book and you can make it in selected hotels in Metro Manila.

In this time of pandemic, among the things you have to make sure if these hotels for staycation are already accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT) to operate in the new normal.

As of January 2021, there are only 14 hotels in the metropolitan allowed to accept guests for leisure purposes.

    1.   Grand Hyatt Hotel
    2.   Makati Shangri-La Hotel
    3.   Okada Manila Hotel
    4.   Shangri-La at the Fort
    5.   Nobu Hotel
    6.   Joy Nostalg Hotel and Suites Manila

    13. Hilton Manila
    14. Hotel Okura Manila

In order to operate, DOT required these accommodation establishments to apply for a Certificate of Authority to Operate as Staycation (CAOS) hotel. A rigid inspection will be done afterwards, to ensure that the management of the hotel is thoroughly implementing health and safety protocols against COVID-19.

“Our guidelines explicitly prohibit the use of quarantine hotels for staycation purposes and vice-versa. We all are hard at work setting the environment to restore businesses and bring back job and livelihood opportunities to benefit our people who rely on tourism.” DOT secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat clarified.

    Yes, for staycation purposes only.

So, this new year 2021, plan your trips ahead and always ensure cleanliness and safety.
