Paolo Guico of the nine-piece act Ben&Ben has called Filipinos to break gender stereotypes and maligned expressions, February 10, Wednesday.

On his Twitter account, the singer-songwriter has shared selfies of him wearing casual shirt-and-pants outfit and on the counterpart, with a dress. “Be comfy in your own skin,” he wrote in caption.

“Never assume anyone’s gender based on the clothes they wear. Hay Pilipinas, ang layo pa natin. Higit pa rito, mali ang mag-assume na ang isang bagay o gawain ay panlalaki o pambabae lamang.” He said in a tweet another day.

“Sana’y makamove-on na tayo bilang bansa sa paggamit ng ‘bakla’ bilang insulto. As a heterosexual male, I may not be in the place to speak for them but, I will fiercely fight for our LGBT friends and listeners. You are valid, accepted and loved. Pilipinas, let’s grow up!” he added.

Ben&Ben members have been vocal on their support for the queer community.
