  • OPM icon Ely Buendia has finally revealed the real meaning of the popular Eraserheads song entitled ‘Spoliarium,’ March 10, Wednesday.

In the March 7 podcast episode of Jim Bacarro and Saab Magalona, Buendia has debunked all the urban legends that the song was referring to the rape case of Pepsi Paloma in the 80s.

“‘Spoliarium’ is one of those cases where, really, the myth has sort of taken over the facts and I kinda like it. I kinda like the myth. Because the actual meaning of the song is also, again, just really mundane,” Buendia said.

“It’s all about getting pissed drunk,” he added.

‘Spoliarium’ was released in 1997, part of the “Sticker Happy” album. It was written by Buendia himself where the title was borrowed from the classic Juan Luna masterpiece.
