Holy Week Special: CBCP lists Jubilee Churches for 500 years of Christianity in PH

  The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has listed over 500 jubilee churches across all the dioceses and archdioceses in the country for the celebration of the 500^th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines.

  It was February 25 when the CBCP also declared that Pope Francis has granted plenary indulgences to Filipinos who will visit any of those jubilee churches across the country any time until April 22, 2022.

  In a statement, the Vatican also requests the faithful who will visit churches to pray “for the fidelity of the Filipino people to their Christian calling, for the increase of priestly and religious vocations, and for the defense of the family, concluding with the Lord’s Prayer, the profession of faith, and an invocation to the Blessed Virgin Mary.”

  The recent surge of the COVID-19 infection might hinder you to visit some of these churches, like your usual Visita Iglesia, but the jubilee celebration will take place up to next year. The faithful are actually not required to come to churches, but some will surely insist.

  So, bright lights. Let us pray and hope that everything will be fine this year, most especially the end of the pandemic.
