To my Best Friend, Thank You.

  I have always believed that a best friend is a part of your family you got to choose. Not everyone gets to have a chance to have someone to call their best friend. Finding someone who will cry on your loss more than you did is one thing. But having someone who also knows how to make you stop crying is another thing.

  As time passes by, I have come to realize that having a best friend is not only about companionship. It’s not always going to be about who will be with you when you fall. What’s more important is who will be there to pick you up and teach you how to get up.

  To my best friend, I may not say this often. But, thank you.

  1) Thank you for sharing your closet with me. Most especially when I am undecided about what to wear.

  2) Thank you for accompanying me during my check-ups and for talking to the doctor because you know I won’t ask questions.

  3) Thank you for always looking after me. For always checking up on me, and making sure I am okay.

  4) Thank you for handing me my favorite food when I’m sad or just having a long day because you know that the only thing that keeps me back on track is good food.

  5) Thank you for being honest with me and accepting my weird side. And for still being proud to tell the world that I am your best friend.

  6) Thank you for being aware when I am not feeling good and for knowing what to do to bring my good mood back.

  7) Thank you for being patient with me and still loving me most especially when circumstances make me hard to love.

  8) Thank you for being with me when I get scared. May it be with paranormal entities or what might happen in the future.

  9) Thank you for holding my hand when I’m having nightmares. And for laughing at me the day after.

  10) Thank you for turning a bad day into a good one. And  for making a good day into a better one.

  11) Thank you for being my family. For making me a part of your family, and allowing yourself to be a member of my family as well.

  12) Thank you for always believing in me, most especially when I start to doubt myself.

  13) Thank you for organizing a surprise birthday party for me. Because you know that I am not into big parties for my birthday celebration.

  14) Thank you for surprising me with flowers and chocolates every Valentine’s Day. Because you know that I do not have someone to do that for me, yet.

  15) Thank you for making me cry with your pieces of advice, and wiping my tears out afterward.

  16) Thank you for supporting me with my crazy love life. And for not being afraid to tell me when to stop.

  17) Thank you for taking care of me when I have a hangover, even when you got them, too.

  18) Thank you for all the fun moments on the road. May it be an out-of-town trip, or an emergency call from someone we need to attend to.

  19) Thank you for reminding me that I am not hard to love. And that I am worth it.

  20) Thank you for always attending to my needs. Even if sometimes, you have to compromise your plan to be with me.

  21) Thank you for showing me the whole of you; your strengths and weaknesses.

  22) Thank you for fighting my battles with me. And for celebrating my victories no matter how big or small they are.

  23) Thank you for giving us our solitude. And still know that sometimes, words don’t need to be said. But that doesn’t mean that we are not on the same page.

  24) Thank you for always standing by me. When it felt like the world was against me, you made sure that you were with me.

  25) And most of all, thank you for all the affection, and I love you’s. Especially during those times when I feel alone and hard to love.

  In these hard and trying times, I want you to know that you got me. And I am saying this as I want you to know how big of an impact you are in my life; that what you do make sense. I may not have fully matured yet, but one thing is for sure, most of who I am right now, you helped me to be. Thank you, and know that I love you, too.
