The month of June has officially started, and there have been lots of stories about how the LGBTIQA+ community started to celebrate pride month. We have seen colorful flags, posts, and stories about how they openly celebrate themselves. We celebrate with them, and we feel proud of them.
But today, we also want to take time to celebrate this with the people who celebrate pride in silence.
To you who have fought battles in silence and celebrate victories by yourself, we celebrate you. And we are so proud of you.
Whether you think of coming out as something that would disappoint the people around you, or you are just not ready, yet; whatever reason you may have, please know that not coming out will not make you less of a person. Coming out is not something that other people decide for you. So, do not feel obliged. It is your life, your choice, your time, and your happiness. No one should take that away from you.
Sure, there will be times that other people will have the audacity to force you of doing so. But do not be afraid to stand your ground. If you think that you are not yet ready to come out, please don’t. We will be happy to see you celebrating with us, but we wouldn’t want you to be in a situation where you will feel like coming out is not the right thing to do; Because it’s the other way around.
Coming out is not something that you decide on overnight. It is a journey. Do not rush, and never push yourself too much. Because if you do, you will not be able to enjoy the journey. Take your time because your journey is as much important as your destination. Pace yourself as your experiences mold you for the best things that life has to offer. Celebrate your destination and cherish your journey.
When the time is right, you’ll know that coming out is the best decision that you have ever made in your entire life. And you will realize that everything you’ve been through was worth it.
Remember, the people who don’t like you will never like you, regardless of your preferences. On the other hand, the people who sincerely love you will never ask for an explanation from you. They will just be happy that you have finally braved all your worries and inhibitions.
As we live in a world full of discriminating people, we hope that someday you’ll find the strength to come out and proudly raise our flag. Until then, know that we will always be here to celebrate with you. You are not alone, and you are loved. Happy Pride Month! #LoveWins
