The official music video of Rick Astley’s 1987 hit “Never Gonna Give You Up” has reached 1 billion views on YouTube, July 28, Wednesday.
According to YouTube, the video that has become the source of one of the internet’s most beloved prank memes reached daily views of over 2.3 million on April 1. That triggered this significant milestone.

To express his gratitude to everybody, Astley posted a video on his Twitter account, “1 BILLION views for Never Gonna Give You Up on @YouTube ! Amazing, crazy, wonderful,” he wrote.

To celebrate the billion milestone, Astley also announced the upcoming release of a 2,500-piece limited edition of a signed 7″ blue vinyl single.
The YouTube was uploaded on October 25, 2009 and now has 1,006,594,227 views, as of the writing.
