Baguio has been a very controversial place recently. Aside from the sceneries, it is also a perfect place to relax, unwind, and feel the breeze of nice weather. Because of that, a lot of Filipino movies used this as the main setting of the film. If you are a movie-goer or you just want to spend time with a friend, this is for you! These movies will give you a good time and a good view of the City of Pines.
That Thing Called Tadhana (2014)


First, let’s start with this movie that made everyone wants to go to Baguio and Sagada during the first few weeks of its movie break! This is a story of two people, Mace and Anthony, who met in the airport of Italy going home to the Philippines. Mace was mending a broken heart. One thing led to another, and the next thing they knew, they were on their way to Baguio. Together, they discovered not only the beautiful places in Baguio but also a lot about themselves as they answer the question “Where do broken hearts go?”
Halik Sa Hangin (2015)


Mia, a young woman whose father just died, had to move into Baguio to live with her mom and stepfather. There she met new friends, including a mysterious guy, Gio, who eventually became her boyfriend. As the two get along well, Mia detached herself from her family and friends. She then started to build her little world with her boyfriend, Gio, which made things more complicated. You’ll never expect the plot twist of this movie, so go ahead and watch it with someone who enjoys both a romantic and psychological film!
Ngayong Nandito Ka (2003)


Gary and Rocky, a couple who are also members of a band in Baguio, had an opportunity to migrate to Japan. However, things started not to go their way as unforeseen circumstances came to Rocky and his family. Years after, destiny made them meet again. However, things were not just the same.
Don’t Give Up On Us (2006)


Abby is a woman who has concrete plans for her life. Indecisively, she went to Baguio in search of her best friend, Sabina, who escaped during her bridal shower. The first time she sets foot on Baguio, she met Vince. He is a go-with-a-flow musician who turned to be a friend of the guy Sabina is seeing. As they search for Sabina and her lover, they develop a special bond with each other. But the problem is, Abby has plans, including marrying her boyfriend.
White House (2010)


If you are into horror movies, this one is something you can watch with a friend. Aside from its tourist attraction, Baguio is also known for several haunted places such as the Loakan Road, Diplomat Hotel, Teacher’s Camp, and of course, the Laperal White House. The story is about Jet, a paranormal expert who also becomes a consultant in a reality TV show, Pinoy Horror House, set in the Laperal White House. While being the consultant of the show, Jet tries to solve a personal mystery involving her daughter.
Labs Kita, Okey Ka Lang (1998)


“Oh yes, kaibigan mo ako. Kaibigan mo lang ako. And I’m so stupid to make the biggest mistake of falling in love with my best friend!” If you are a fan of Pinoy films about unrequited love, you might probably be familiar with this Pinoy hugot line. This film became very popular because many can relate to what Budjoy is experiencing: Falling in love with her best friend, who only treats her as a friend. And yes, Budjoy and Ned spent all their happy memories in Baguio!
Kokey (1997)


Do you remember a very good extraterrestrial friend from your childhood? Well, this might be a very good time to rewatch this feel-good-heart warming movie about Bong, Anna, and their good friend, Kokey. There’s a lot of lessons to learn in this movie as it tackles both friendship and family relationship. One interesting fact about this movie: Did you know who played the role of Kokey? It’s no other than the late Noemi Tesorero, a great comedian commonly known as Mahal.
Baguio is one of the many places in the Philippines that people visit whether they are going through a broken heart, or just unwinding from their daily work. So, after this pandemic, invite your family or friend and visit the beautiful place of Baguio City. For now, let’s just enjoy their sceneries by watching these films with our loved ones!
