US rapper, formerly known as ‘Kanye West,’ will now be known as ‘Ye’ after court approved his change name request, October 19, Tuesday.
The communications officer at the Los Angeles Superior Court told AFP that the judge granted the Grammy-winning rapper and producer name change request, meaning that he no longer has a last or middle name, unlike his previous full name, ‘Kanye Omari West.’
It was also mentioned that the performer cited personal reasons when he filed the request in August. In 2018, Ye used the same name with the album he released.
“I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it’s I’m you, I’m us, it’s us. It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything.” Ye said in a radio interview in the same year.
