After a five-year music hiatus, OPM band Rivermaya releases a new song entitled “Casino” according to the Philippine Star.
According to lead vocalist and drummer Mike Escueta, this song was written before the pandemic and worked on it with the rest of the band after just seeing the file in his Google docs. “It was just a matter of looking for chords that fit the melody. Once I had a rough arrangement down, with just drums, keys and chorus vocals, I started writing the verses around the story,” He said.
The band jammed and recorded this song individually in the comfort of their homes, digital-collaboration style.
The song talks about how far we can willingly go for love despite the presence of uncertainty. “Casino” gives off this groovy ’80s vibe combined with the classic Filipino alternative genre.
