Fresh from their five wins at the recently concluded Awit Awards 2022, Ben&Ben drops new single, “Dear” which unapologetically ventures into romantic territory with an exploration of love that grows with time.

“We think it’s equally important to drop any notion of wanting to deliberately steer clear of potential sounds and themes we may have already done when being unapologetic and honest in songwriting and arranging,” the folk-pop/pop rock band says in a press statement. “Like in love, the more you fight the feeling, the more one might feel internally dissonant.”

The song was written by the nine-piece band’s lead vocalists Paolo Benjamin and Miguel Benjamin Guico “after finding the deepest kind of love at a time when it was least expected,” as stated in their Instagram post. It was recorded at A.R. Rahman’s Firdaus Studio during their time at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Dear is a song that tries to capture the feeling of a deeper kind of romantic love; one that begins when a person surrenders the pursuit of a lover itself to a higher power,” explains Ben&Ben.

It also evokes the timeless feeling of nostalgia and earnestness, while capturing the sound of a generation drawn into ‘70s singer-songwriter calm and pop-rock vigor.

Ben&Ben hopes that music fans will have an instant connection with the song and receive a valid answer to the question, “How do I know when I’m sure about somebody?” As the multi-award winning band puts it, “We also just really hope this song connects people together in a way that they remember the people in their lives whom they can really call ‘Dear’ as well.”

Released on all digital music platforms worldwide on November 25, this comes ahead of their homecoming concert on December 18, which will be held at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque City. Initially slated for September 3 as a send-off show for their North America tour, the concert was canceled due to weather conditions triggered by typhoon Henry.
