Swedish EDM DJ-producer Alesso did not appear due to “unforeseen circumstances” at the scheduled December 17 show at the SMDC Festival Grounds. He was slated to headline the “ALESSO featuring Acraze” organized by Ovation Productions – also intended to be his return to the country six years after his last visit.
Other local and international supporting acts, namely Ace Ramos, Martin Pulgar, Marc Marasigan, Rico Arce, KATDJ, Deuce, Katsy Lee, David Ardiente, and ACRAZE – were also scheduled to play alongside him during the occasion.
However, moments before the supposed 6:30 p.m. start of the event, Ovation Productions provided an update stating that the gates were set to open at 7 p.m. “due to inclement weather.”

Alesso fans were enraged upon realizing their performer was nowhere to be found. More so, many disappointed fans grew outraged on social media when Alesso released an Instagram video of himself performing in Bali. The time of posting was the supposed time he should be doing his set in Manila. While there was uncertainty when the Bali gig took place – the upset fans took their grievances to the comment section, demanding an explanation regarding the no-show.

“Manila, due to circumstances that were out of my control, I’m deeply sorry that my show was canceled.”
He added, “Me and my team are doing our best to make this up to you. I’m so sorry for this.”
Saturday’s scheduled event with ACRAZE and the other support acts went on without the headliner himself; Ovation Productions provided free admission to the concert.
On a brighter note, after missing last Saturday’s concert in Paranaque – Alesso’s management and the event organizers are looking into rescheduling the show in the Philippines. They also added that a new date is under negotiation. Meanwhile, it has promised fans that tickets purchased for Alesso’s event would be valid when the DJ performs in Manila. Those who choose to refund may do so, according to Ovation Productions.
Alesso is the artist behind the singles “If I Lose Myself,” “City of Dreams,” and “Calling (Lose My Mind).” He is also well-known for the music he produced with other musicians. These include “Heroes” in 2015 with Tove Lo, “Let Me Go” in 2017 with Hailee Steinfeld, Florida Georgia Line, and Watt, and “Words” in 2022 with Zara Larsson.
