“We will do better next time.”
Recently on December 18, local folk band Ben&Ben held their “Homecoming Concert 2022” at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque City. The venue garnered a 65,000 capacity of concertgoers.
Unfortunately, the band and Ovation Productions (the concert promoter) drew flak due to inconveniences. Grievances include long queues, poor security, lack of food options, and improper sorting of the seat sections – to name a few of the many complaints from the attendees. Additionally, some attendees demanded refunds after the series of mishaps they experienced during the event.
The organizers publicly apologized via Twitter, describing several events that led to the issues:

According to the organization, the concert grounds had enough security guards inside and outside. More so, they were in proper coordination with the police and fire departments.
In addition, the venue’s lack of entry gates was the result of a decision made jointly by the organizers and venue management to “save people from trekking across heavy muck” in the area where construction work was taking place. It also acknowledged that at one point, to clear the choke spots, security measures had been “relaxed,” but that they had been reinstated once the situation had improved. The corporation also mentioned that there were enough ambulances, medical teams, and marshals at the location.
Ovation Productions also emphasized that they have previously handled outdoor concerts for artists like Usher, One Direction, and Ed Sheeran – without ever receiving complaints of this type. They nevertheless acknowledge that the Ben&Ben fans have ultimately been inconvenienced by all of this – for which they sincerely apologize.
More so, the band took their regrets and apologies on their social media:
View this post on Instagram“We’d like to sincerely apologize to those of you who experienced a profoundly distressing experience with the line-up, the admittance into the venue, and the general holes in the organization of the event.” They added, “To make sure that what happened won’t happen again, especially to you, our Liwagang, we will be extra watchful with everyone engaged in the planning and preparations of our shows.”
