On Tuesday, April 18, a coroner’s report revealed that singer and rapper Aaron Carter had tragically drowned in his bathtub. The report indicated that the 34-year-old had accidentally ingested a lethal combination of sedatives and gas from spray cleaners that he had inhaled.

According to the autopsy report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, Carter was discovered submerged and dead in the bathtub of his home in Lancaster, California, on November 5.

Performed on Carter the day after his death, it revealed the presence of two substances in his system — the sedative alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax, and the compressed gas difluoroethane. The latter is usually used as a propellant in air spray cleaners and can induce euphoric feelings when inhaled.

The report also suggests that the combination of these two substances rendered him incapacitated while he was in the tub, ultimately resulting in drowning. However, the results of the autopsy were withheld for toxicology testing, which can often take several months.

Aaron Carter, the younger sibling of Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys, achieved fame as a child star and became a global pop sensation with hits like ‘I’m All About You,’ ‘I Want Candy,’ and ‘Sooner or Later.’ He had a successful solo career and even supported the Backstreet Boys on tour. Carter released his debut album when he was just nine years old, followed by his second album ‘Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)’ in 2000, which went on to become triple platinum.

However, as he grew older, his relationship with his family became strained, and he filed for bankruptcy in 2013. Carter also underwent several stints in rehab.
