Canadian producer Ovela believes Morissette Amon is Regine Velasquez’s successor

  In a recent YouTube vlog, Ovela reacted to some Pinay divas who allegedly have some of the most difficult original Pinoy music (OPM) tracks, if they were to be sung live. In the video, the qualifications of the vocal techniques and requirements to sing the songs with justice are explained including sustaining the high notes, the use of different voice registers, breathing patterns, complex runs, and the almost impossible live whistle, among many other aspects.

  The artists featured in the video were Jona, Lani Misalucha, Sarah Geronimo, Katrina Velarde, Aicelle Santos, Regine Velasquez, Kyla, and Morissette Amon.

  Although all the Pinay divas in the video were impressive, Ovela couldn’t help but praise the Asia’s Phoenix’s ability to whistle live and several times in the video.

  “See? She did it again exactly the same way. And we’re talking about whistling here. It’s crazy,” commented the Canadian producer who can be seen several more times staring at Morissette’s performance.

  The young singer from Cebu received further praise from the Canadian vlogger.

  “Tell me something. Can Regine do that? Can Katrina do that? I think the only one that maybe can do that is Jona. Jona may be able to whistle like that and I’m not even one hundred percent sure,” says the producer.

  “And I say that she’s the successor, the rightful successor to Regine, to the throne, that throne that we all know that Regine has, right?,” he continued.

  “Because on top of whistling, she can do almost everything else with such precision and excellence,” he concludes.

  In the end, the Canadian content creator said that it seems obvious that Morissette’s fan made the video even though he enjoyed it. Ovela’s suggestion is to highlight not only the Pinay divas but also the country’s many talented male vocalists.

  Since 2016, Ovela and his YouTube channel have been featuring some Pinoy content including top vocal talents in the country.

  Moreover, he now has over 1 million subscribers and 300 million lifetime views on the reporting platform.
