The group of inductees includes a diverse array of performers from various genres, such as country and rock singer-songwriters like Willie Nelson and Sheryl Crow, as well as the late pop icon George Michael and the classic soul vocal group The Spinners.
The performer category of an upcoming music awards ceremony includes several notable artists such as Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, and The Spinners. Additionally, DJ Kool Herc and Link Wray will receive the Musical Influence Award, while Chaka Khan, Al Kooper, and Bernie Taupin have been chosen to receive the Musical Excellence Award. Finally, Don Cornelius will be the recipient of the Ahmet Ertegun Award at this year’s ceremony.
The “Musical Influence Award” recognizes artists who have had a direct impact on the evolution of rock and roll and youth culture through their music and performance style. The “Musical Excellence Award” honors individuals who have significantly made their impact on music through their originality and influence as songwriters, musicians, and producers. The “Ahmet Ertegun Award” is given to non-performing industry professionals who have played a crucial role in shaping the creative development and growth of rock & roll and youth culture music.
Those who are chosen to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are recognized for their ability to produce music that is unique, influential, and has had a significant impact on the direction of rock & roll, as stated by the organization.
The induction ceremony and concert for the 13 honorees of the 38th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will be held on November 3, 2023, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
