Last April 27, Thursday, was the launch of Warner Music Philippines’ “We Play Here!” in celebration of their 30th Anniversary. In line with the label’s primary objective of fostering Filipino music, a celebration of star-studded artists happened at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura. SB19’s Ken performing under his mononym Felip led the lineup of other promising OPM Artists.

During the backstage interview with Felip, we got the chance to ask him about his dream artist collaboration to which he answered, “Slapshock, Urbandub, ‘yun, mga fan na fan ako dati. Opo, Kamikazee po. The Juans din po, gusto ko ‘yung ano nila, very medyo gospel. Yup!” Moreover, Felip mentioned that he makes these songs because this is the type of music he wants to make and share to everyone. That same day, Felip was awarded by Warner Music Philippines with a plaque for getting over five million streams in total for the Complex EP on Spotify as of April 2023.

But wait, there’s more! Felip isn’t the only one who got an award during that night! Warner Music Philippines also awarded Dilaw for garnering over 20 Million Spotify streams as of April 2023. To that, here’s what they have to say, “Super grateful, because you know, it shows that the people who relate to our music enjoy listening to it. And you know, as artists, we love when our message comes to someone else that feels the same way as we do.” They also got an award for being simultaneously number one on all music streaming platforms, biggest single day streamed OPM song on Spotify chart history, number one on Spotify Viral 50 Philippines, number five on Spotify Viral 50 Global. Moreover, “Uhaw” & “Uhaw (Tayong Lahat)” were simultaneously in the top 10 for Spotify and Apple Music PH Charts. They deserve a big celebration for that!

Talking about celebration, Leanne and Naara were also celebrating their 7th Anniversary of making music together. According to them, their favorite memory was, “Siguro when we released our album, pandemic, it’s called Daybreak, tapos pahirapan talaga nung time na yon kasi walang anything. Yeah! May social media, but it was pandemic, so, yeah, 2020. So, our powers were limited talaga yung pwede naming gawin but, it was still a process. It was something we’re very proud of, also it was our first tagalog single kasi they’ve been waiting for us to release one so, finally nagawa na namin.”

Together with these amazing artists, JRLDM, Sugarcane, PLAYERTWO, and Lola Amour also performed that night.

Getting to know these wonderful artists really makes us appreciate the music industry more. On top of that, what makes them unique and the messages they want us to feel make our night a lot better. Well, we hope to still be a part of these musicians’ new music and performances as they make it to the top! Indeed, they gave us a performance that shouts, “We Play Here!” and it makes us want to have more!
