American country music superstar Dolly Parton is set to join forces with established singers in the music industry – Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Sting, and her goddaughter Miley Cyrus to create her upcoming rock album, titled “Rockstar.” This will be her first-ever rock album, consisting of nine original tracks and 21 covers.
The forthcoming album is inspired by Parton’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, and will also feature collaborations with co-stars – including Lizzo, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks, Kid Rock, Simon Le Bon, P!nk, Brandi Carlile, Debbie Harry, Joan Jett, and Chris Stapleton.
The 77-year-old performer took to her website to express her excitement about working with legendary musicians and singing iconic songs for the album: “I’m so excited to finally present my first Rock and Roll album, Rockstar!” She added, “I am very honored and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time, and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure. I hope everybody enjoys the album as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together!”
She also recently released the lead single from the album, “World on Fire,” and performed it at the annual ACM Awards, which she co-hosted with Garth Brooks on May 11.
