Ed Sheeran is reportedly being sued over claims of copying Marvin Gaye’s hit song ‘Let’s Get It On’ on his Grammy-winning single ‘Thinking Out Loud’ according to the Rolling Stone.
Reports from TMZ confirmed that the family of Gaye’s co-writer, Ed Townsend, has already file a copyright infringement lawsuit against Sheeran for lifting the melody, harmony and rhythm from the 1973’s hit ‘Let’s Get It On’ for his song.
“The Defendants copied the ‘heart’ of ‘Let’s’ and repeated it continuously throughout ‘Thinking,'” the lawsuit claims. “The melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic compositions of ‘Thinking’ are substantially and/or strikingly similar to the drum composition of ‘Let’s.”
The english singer-songwriter’s representative did not respond to a request for comment regarding the lawsuit filed onto them.
This is the second accusation against Sheeran after the English star was accused of stealing pieces of his smash single ‘Photograph’ in June.
