My Unsent Letter: She Left No Trace

  My name is Carl, an avid mountaineer. I’ve been climbing mountains since my college days until now that I’m working full time as a customer service representative.

  Whenever there’s a long weekend, I always try to grab the opportunity to do what I love.

  One day, on my Pico De Loro mountain climb, I’ve met this fine looking lady who was suprisingly, my guide.

  As we climb Pico De Loro, we exchange stories and chat about our personal lives.

  Upon reaching the peak of the mountain, I started to feel this weird feeling. I felt that cupid has shoot an arrow to me. I felt love at first sight towards my guide. Yes, I know it was fast, but that’s how love works.

  Since then, we’ve been climbing mountains together. I think we were to able to climb at least two mountains together.

  Everything was perfect, until one day….

  My guide left me with no trace. She was nowhere to find nor to be reached. I tried reaching her phone number but I did not succeed. I went to her apartment but her neighbors said that she already left few days ago.

  I was left clueless on where to find her.

  My guide, who was suppose to ‘guide’ me, ironically left me at lost.

  Bakit ang tanga-tanga ko? Masyado akong nag-expect para sa amin? If my expectations on our ‘special relationship’ will be measured on a scale from 1 to Mt. Apo, I’ll surely fell on Mt. Apo.

  She should have just said that she wanted some time to rest and I’ll be glad to say, take your time.

  Sana napagod lang, pero hindi sumuko.

  She disposed me properly.

  She left what she found.

  She did not yield a trail going to her.

  How I wish I could get back time to unmeet her; How I wish I could stop myself from falling in love with my mountain guide.

  Now I know where mountaineers are good –  forget.

  Forget and leave no trace.
