Be Happy With What You Have And Not Who You Have

Good morning, DJ Chloe!
I am writing because I need some advice regarding some issues I’m keeping to myself because I have no one to turn to. I am leaving next month. I’m travelling to the US to visit my family. I am going with a friend. Let’s call her May. Actually I never wanted to travel. Siguro dahil takot ako bumyahe but May pushed me to renew my passport, get a visa, mag bakasakali baka mabigyan daw ako ng visa. From day one, we were together planning. I kept her updated until the day I was granted a visa. Ang saya-saya namin, we even had lunch to celebrate. Then she said magtravel na daw kami so I can visit my mom. Ihahatid daw niya ako sa mommy and the idea of travelling together was so great I started having sleepless nights, haha. Then soon after she booked our flight, she told me that her friend was joining us. Let’s call her friend Lea. This Lea will be with us in the entire trip. I told May I’m not comfortable because Lea is a complete stranger to me. I am always told that this is my trip. But ever since Lea came into the picture, details of our itinerary have been decided upon by both May and Lea. I was never consulted. Honestly, DJ Chloe, hindi na ako excited umalis. Now tell me DJ, is it wrong to feel this way? Is it wrong to feel left out? Alam mo, in order to avoid arguments, I choose not to say anything anymore. For me, I told her earlier on that I am not comfortable having her friend in our trip. Payuhan mo ako, DJ. Wala akong ibang masabihan.
A
Dear A,
It sucks to be left out–big time! It’s like making you feel you weren’t worth the truth in the first place, na meron palang iba pang kasama, na may bagong itinerary.
It seems na masyadong “malakas” ang influence ni Lea kay May.
Hindi naman kaya matagal na silang nagpa-plano na bumyahe together? And since Lea is a complete stranger to you, hindi kaya ganun din ikaw kay Lea? Baka naman iba ang kwento ni May sa isang kaibigan nya, kay Lea ?
Since you were always told that this is your trip, then make it indeed your trip.
Once you’re there, spend the most of your time with your family and relatives and not with them, ‘yan ay kung matutuloy pa kayo magsama-sama pag-alis. Don’t let other people be responsible for your own happiness, A.
Go ahead and enjoy travelling. There are billions of people in the entire universe, why let one particular person affect you?
