Hold On To Your Faith

Dear DJ Chloe,
I have been an avid reader of Chloe’s Inbox and I can’t believe one of these days pala eh mapapadpad din ako sa page mo.
I work in Makati and I have 3 kids, married but not in very good terms with my husband. I am lucky in my career, holding a position in the department I amm into. Maganda ang career path ko. Okay na sana pero minalas ako sa isang anak ko.
My child was diagnosed with a sickness two years ago and it requires daily medication for her to survive.
She can function normally but the stressful administration of her medicine and the complicated diet she has to be into is such a stress not only to the whole family but to me specifically. Lalo na at working ako I can’t help thinking about it at work.
I must admit galit ako sa Diyos.
Thank you for reading my letter, I hope you can give me some light.
Dina
Dear Dina,
You said, “bakit anak ko pa?” Why not? You know, I too in my life have been tested. And like you, I’ve had questions and I felt bad for having such misfortunes in my life. But you know what I realized? FAITH IS THE ONLY TRUE SHELTER IN LIFE. When misfortunes hit us, two things can happen, we become more dependent on God and our faith increases; or we get mad at God and abandon our faith. I’ll tell you life without the second, life without God and faith, makes everything difficult. And life with the first makes everything easier.
This life, Dina, is temporary. Even the pain and the joy, they’re all temporary. You should seek to understand the life after this and you can only know about that if you seek to know God and His will and purpose for you.
Minsan simple lang ang mensahe. May sakit ang anak mo? God is telling you to take care of her. God is telling you to make sure you are a mother to her.
Simplify things, Dina, my dear. You are blessed, you have a good job. It only means you can sustain her medicines. God gave and is giving you the provision even when you don’t deserve it but He knows your child needs it. Some people don’t even have a job that pays where they can get the money to buy meds.
It’s just actually how you look at things. And please, don’t say na minalas ka sa anak mo. Children are gifts from God. Just so happened yours came with a condition but your kid is still a blessing. Her condition doesn’t make her less of a person. Please, treat her well.
