I Just Want Him To Realize My Worth

“Do you want a man to love you more? LOVE HIM LESS.”
Hi DJ Chloe,
That’s just one of your advice that I’ve read in your Facebook page. But isn’t love should be unconditional? I mean, I am in a seven-month relationship now and I know because I can feel that I love him more than he does. We always fight. But I am the one who always apologizes even when it’s not my fault. I love him and I couldn’t love him any less because I believe that true love is immeasurable. I mean, nagmamahal ka lang ng totoo pag nagmamahal ka ng buo.
But as I’ve already mentioned, we always fight even on silly things and I don’t know how to fix our long distance relationship anymore.
So, if things are not working out yet I still have feelings for him, strong feelings, should I say goodbye?
I’m just having a hard time. I broke up with him last night. I just want him to realize my worth. I hope he will. I broke up with him not because I don’t love him, it’s because I love him so much.
Thanks,
Mrs. ScofieldDear Mrs. Scofield,
You know what, in my forty plus years of existence the only time I understood what unconditional love is was when I had children of my own. That’s the best definition of unconditional love, the love of a parent to a child.
Some people really probably experience unconditional love from other human being. But I guess it’s rare. While I believe that loving a man less will make him love you more. You should understand that I say things based on my own experience. And most of the advise I give are based on my own experiences, which I believe is the best teacher and guide.
Maybe at this point in my life, I have come to realize that I love myself more than I can ever love any man. Loving someone so much, that it hurts, only left me with scars and they’re the very reason I’ve loved myself more. And learned loving a man less will make him love you more.
Men, like women are also hard to understand and deal with. So in dealing with them, you have to use more of your head. You know, be gentle and swift like a dove with him. But be wise like a serpent, “marry a man who loves you more than you love him” is an advise I heard years ago. And I’m passing it on to you, you can take it or leave it. It’s up to you at the end of the day, it’s your life. It’s your heart and it’s the whole you who will deal with every choice you make.
Sincerely,
-
