If It’s For You No One Will Hold You Back

Hi DJ Chloe,
I’m 32 years old. By profession, I am a nurse currently working in the BPO industry for 10 years. As a kid, I am always ambitious. I wanted to be a lot of things. A flight attendant, a lawyer, a vet, a voice over actor, and a DJ. Things got pretty messy so now, I’m stuck with a profession I’m not happy with. Having a kid and being a single working mom changes everything. One thing remained the same, my dream to work as a radio jock or do voice over. I find myself pretending being a DJ every weekend or even at work. Closest thing I did was recording the IVR message for my account and being tapped to do another one for my old boss’ account (I didn’t get paid a single cent for it though). Anyway, it may seem a little late to chase my dream working on air but can you give me tips on how to fulfill this dream? I actually submitted my resume and audition video for a different station (I asked Easy Rock’s a page for any vacancy in your station, alas they don’t have one).
Thank you for reading.
Should this be featured in Chloe’s Inbox, hehe, please do not include my name. Thanks again, DJ Chloe! More power!
Hi there! Sabi nga ni Lupita Nyong’o, “your dreams are valid!”
One of my mentors in radio is also a nurse by profession, pero ng nag radyo siya, hindi na siya nakaalis ng radio.
You’re only 32, my big break came when I was in my late 30s. The thing about me, I had an experience na back when I was in my 20s, I started 1997, sa probinsiya nga lang. Little did I know that God was preparing me for His plans.
I did not let go of that dream, even when I was working in the corporate world, panay pa rin hanap ko ng vacancy sa radio.
I remember clearly how I would mimic Cherry Bayle, I was a big fan of hers, sabi ko sa sarili ko makabalik lang ako ng radio masaya na ‘ko kahit magspin lang ako, ‘di na ‘ko magsalita okay lang.
God must have been listening all the time… ?
When I heard Easy Rock was open for auditions back in 2008, I submitted my demo, I came to audition and bugged them day in and day out to give me a chance, hahahahahaha!
Tumigas na dila ko sa tagal ng panahon na ‘di ako nag radyo, 5 years. But I worked really hard, hahahahaha! Kasi sabi ng iba, ‘di raw ako bagay sa Easy Rock, ‘di daw ako pwede.
Awa ng Diyos nandito pa naman ako.My point is, if it’s God’s plan for you, even you, cannot say no.
Practice more, audition more, sometimes also, it’s not all of what you know but Who you know.
