Adele was awarded the first Emmy during night one of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which was held in Los Angeles, California on September 3.
Despite missing the award ceremony, she received her statuette later that day and extended her thanks via Instagram. “Trust me to officially have an EGO,” she quips in the post, which includes a series of selfies showing off her award.
Adele: One Night Only also emerged victorious in the following categories: Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Variety Special, Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Variety Series Or Special, and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Special. The primetime special premiered in November 2021 and included an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey. It was promoted as her “first televised wide-ranging conversation about her new album ’30,’ the stories behind the songs, life after divorce, weight loss and raising her son.”
Following this achievement, Adele is adding to a slew of other major award wins, including 15 Grammys and an Oscar for Best Original Song for her hit James Bond theme “Skyfall.” With multiple Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for best original song under her belt, the hitmaker is only a Tony Award away from reaching the highly-coveted ‘EGOT.’ It is a title given to artists who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. To date, only 17 people have been able to collect all four though many have come close.
