American pop star Ariana Grande was awarded ‘Artist of the Year’ at the 2016 American Music Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
It was Grande’s only nomination in this year’s AMAs. She beat 9 other nominees including the names of Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Beyonce and many more top artists.
“I can’t believe this. I am shaking with nerves,” she said. “I hope that I can bring joy to you and make you feel unified and happy.”
Meanwhile, former One Direction member, Zayn Malik bested ‘Treat You Better’ singer Shawn Mendes for the Best New Artist award.
